Stanley Anigbogu

Stanley is a Nigerian innovator dedicated to empowering young people and communities through sustainable energy solutions. Inspired by his experience of studying by candlelight during his early years, he created a programme that teaches practical skills to build clean, accessible light sources. Using an eco-friendly approach, Stanley’s solution repurposes e-waste and plastic bottles to generate light, transforming discarded materials into tools for progress. His work brings hope and light to marginalised communities while addressing environmental challenges.

Africa suffers from critical levels of energy poverty that 600 million African people, about 43% of the continent’s population, have no access to electricity, according to the (IEA).

Growing up in Nigeria, Stanley knows firsthand the challenges of inadequate lighting in marginalised communities. Still, instead of accepting the status quo, he is taking action through his project: The Avatar Station.

Through the Creatives For Our Future programme, Stanley created a solar-powered Avatar Station in Nigeria from recycled materials, serving as a community hub to educate students and residents on climate change and renewable energy.

Stanley launched the Eco Heroes Programme, a curriculum that teaches children about renewable energy through mentorship from global sustainability experts, hands-on workshops to build solar-powered devices and real-world impact projects.
