Ghislain Irakoze

Ghislain is a sustainability entrepreneur and activist from Rwanda, dedicated to creating a climate-resilient and waste-free future. He founded Wastezon, a clean-tech company revolutionising e-waste management through innovative traceability, sorting, and collection technology. Over 400 tons of e-waste have been transacted via the Wastezon app. With support from the Creatives for Our Future programme, Ghislain has expanded his impact by launching the Kigali Green Gallery, a conservation art centre designed to reconnect visitors with endangered and extinct species, creating an appreciation for biodiversity and environmental stewardship.

Ghislain has collaborated with the EU Commission DG Environment on Africa-EU Circular Economy Cooperation and supported the African Development Bank in designing a green growth investment programme focused on Rwanda's waste management and circular economy sectors.

As a former youth think tank researcher for the Mastercard Foundation, Ghislain has demonstrated his commitment to sustainable development.

With support from the Creatives for Our Future programme, Ghislain launched the Kigali Green Gallery, a conservation art centre, to raise awareness of biodiversity issues. The exhibition showcased 100 artworks of endangered species, created by 10 young artists-in-residence using banana trunk canvas.

Ghislain envisions the gallery as a platform to educate and inspire Rwandans to engage in conservation efforts and protect their natural heritage.
