Delhi has three legacy dumpsites: Ghazipur, Okhla and Bhalswa, which cover an area of 200 acres and carry over 220 million metric tons of legacy waste.

Gunraagh is committed to enhancing the equity and resilience of urban environments. Having witnessed the adverse impact of Delhi’s dumpsites on ecosystems and communities, he developed an upcycled construction block – Dumpcrete.

Crafted from legacy waste like inert soil, Dumpcrete serves as a circular construction alternative while addressing the issue of sustainable legacy waste management.

Through the Creatives For Our Future programme, Gunraagh aimed to transform Delhi’s legacy waste into sustainable construction solutions, generating green skilling job opportunities for marginalised communities.

The programme introduced me to innovative operational models worldwide and helped me understand new means for innovating with materials. Mentorship sessions and expert workshops have also enabled me to envision a new dimension to my innovation and consider alternative applications that I had not previously considered.
